DAILY ITINERARY
DAY 1
Travel Day. Flights will arrive in Las Vegas (LAS), and we’ll have a three to four hour trip to our destination. It’s a scenic drive with stops along the way. We’ll enter Zion National Park in the late afternoon, the best time of day to soak in the sights of this monumental canyon. From the park, we travel through the historic mile-long Zion-Mt. Carmel tunnel just before arriving at our private mountain home.
DAY 2
Heart of Zion. Our first day of exploring will take us into the heart of Zion National Park. A number of great hiking trails are accessible along main canyon road, including the popular Angel’s Landing hike. The final stretch of this hike- to the Angel's Landing viewpoint - is a heart-pounding climb up and across a narrow precipice with chains to assist. In order to control crowds and enhance safety, the National Park now requires a permit on this section. We will provide information about when and how you can enter the lottery for your permit.
- Hiking Recommendation: Angel’s Landing (5.4 miles) or Emerald Pools (3.0 miles)
- Picnic lunch at Zion Lodge
- Stop inside Visitor Center for trail maps and souvenirs
DAY 3
Bryce Canyon National Park. A one-hour drive from the house, Bryce Canyon is a world apart from Zion Canyon. And the hiking is completely different. Here, you hike into a deep canyon, a great amphitheater filled with beautiful and bizarre rock spires called hoodoos. Many of the formations have names or stories attached to them, and all can cast a spell.
- Hiking Recommendation: Peekaboo Loop and Navajo Loop (6.6 miles)
- Half-day horseback tours are available in lieu of hiking
- Picnic lunch at historic lodge/visitor center
DAY 4
Zion’s Backcountry. This day you can avoid the crowds and start from a remote trailhead outside the park boundaries. This hike leads you across a high plateau, down through beautifully sculpted canyons, and back up to an eye-popping viewpoint overlooking Angel’s Landing and other famous monuments.
- Hiking Recommendation: East Rim Trail to Observation Point (7 miles)
- Lunch packed for the trail
DAY 5
Zion Canyoneering. At the very end of Zion Canyon Road is where the Virgin River emerges from a deep, narrow canyon. This is where to start this day’s adventure. On this unusual hike, the river itself is the trail as towering canyon walls grow taller and tighter around you. You will at times be hiking ankle, knee or waist deep in water. No technical skills or gear required. This is a quintessential Zion experience and a spectacular life-list hike.
- The Narrows (6-8 miles RT)
- Lunch packed for the trail
DAY 6
Travel Day. With late afternoon departures from Las Vegas, we’ll ease our way back into civilization, indulging in scenic and/or shopping stops along the way.

Just got back from the Utah Zion National Park hiking trip and it was beyond anything we could have expected! Emily and Joe were the perfect guides, the house we stayed at was spectacular, all logistics were taken care of, and Zion and Bryce National Park were stunning. Already trying to find the next trip we can go on with this group.
Our first group tour and, based on our experience, not the last. Tour guide Joe Dann set the stage for a fun, carefree week that our fellow travelers made even better with shared interests, easy conversation and lots of laughs. We’re heading back to our daily lives as better people, thanks to Joe, Fit 4 Adventure, our newfound friends and the gorgeous canyon country of southwest Utah. Thank you for a perfect experience!
The trip was even better than advertised. The scenery and the experiences exceeded my expectations. The itinerary was perfect and I felt like I got to see the best of both parks. I wouldn't change a thing! The house we stayed in was a great way to make new friends, unwind after hiking and still enjoy the Zion surroundings. The meals provided were well planned with lots of options and so delicious! We were spoiled on this trip, for sure. Joe & Tara were a great team both on the trails and in the kitchen.
Excellent! Challenging hikes, beautiful scenery, delicious food and great people! Highly enjoyable from start to finish! The hosts- Joe and Tara- put forth the effort to make sure everything came together and made things happen in the best possible way. A trip of a lifetime!
Outstanding! Our guides (Joe & Tara) created delicious lunches, hiked alongside us all day, then created tasty dinners and cleaned it all up too! Everyone in the house clicked. We were like old friends laughing together all week. The Angel’s Landing was a difficult hike with payoff views. Joe & Tara were encouraging us the whole time. The Narrows water hike was really fun too. I’m so glad to have seen the beautiful red rock formations in Bryce Canyon. Breathtaking. A very memorable week. Looking really forward to the next adventure!
We'll plan the trip!
