Known as the “Crown of the Continent”, Glacier National Park boasts what many argue is the best mountain scenery in the Lower 48. On this itinerary, we will paddle, hike and horseback ride our way through some of the most beautiful country in the US. We'll enjoy breathtaking views, mind-blowing mountainscapes and the chance to see abundant wildlife, including moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, elk, wolves, and even black and grizzly bears.

While in the park, we will drive the iconic Going to the Sun Road- one of the most scenic roads in any national park. On the Sun Road, we will see the Garden Wall, glaciers, mountain peaks, valleys, waterfalls and beautiful wildflowers, including a stop at the Logan Pass Visitors' Center. During the trip, we will also have the opportunity to explore the town of Whitefish, one of Montana's mountain-town gems.

TRIP DATES: September 14-21, 2025 (8 days, 7 nights)

TRIP PRICE: $4,915 (per person, double occupancy)

(Single-supplement- $1,680)

Not Included: Flights, travel insurance, add-on accommodation/excursions*, meals not listed above, tips for F4A Guides, personal expenses- souvenirs, alcohol, etc.

FLIGHTS

You are responsible for booking your flight to/from Glacier Park Airport (FCA). Plan to arrive by 2p on Sept. 14; please plan departures no earlier than noon on Sept. 21.

DEPOSIT

A $500 deposit (per person) is due at the time of booking. This deposit is non-refundable.

PAYMENTS

The first payment (50% of remaining balance) will be due June 1, 2025. Final payment will be due August 1, 2025. You will receive a reminder email when these payments are due. Once made, all payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

CANCELLATIONS

By Client: If you need to cancel before the trip, the cancellation fee is your initial deposit plus any additional payments made. Any payments made are non-refundable and non-transferable. Your reservation will automatically cancel if final payment is not received by the due date. Travel Insurance is highly recommended (see below).

By Fit 4 Adventure: In the event that we must cancel a trip for commercial reasons beyond our control, including if the minimum number of trip participants is not met, you will be able to transfer any amount paid toward any F4A trip in the next 24 months. You may also opt for a full refund. 

By Force Majeure: In the event that a trip is cancelled due (but not limited) to natural disasters, pandemics, border restrictions, terrorism, or political instability, F4A will offer you a future trip credit valid for 24 months from the original trip date. 

F4A is not responsible for any additional expenses you may incur as result of your booking, including (but not limited to) visas, vaccinations, clothing, equipment, travel insurance or non-refundable flights. 

TRAVEL INSURANCE

The cancellation policy will be strictly adhered to. To avoid loss of payments due to unforeseen circumstances, travel insurance is highly recommended.  We recommend booking through our partners Allianz Travel or World Nomads. Alternatively, travel insurance can often be purchased along with your flight.

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1- Sunday, Sept 14: Arrival Day

Flights will arrive at Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) near Kalispell, MT. We will have a 45-minute drive to West Glacier and Lake McDonald. We will start with a hike at Trail of the Cedars. If time allows, we will continue to Avalanche Lake, which is 4.5 miles round trip with just a 730-foot elevation gain. We will then have a Welcome Dinner at Lake McDonald Lodge before going back to Whitefish to settle in for the night at our accommodation- a private lodge named “Pure Luxury” in Whitefish, MT.

Day 2- Monday, Sept. 15th: Polebridge and Lake Bowman

We will drive 1:15 to Polebridge, MT, into the remote North Fork of Glacier NP. This is a very remote part of the park with little to no phone service (and little to no crowds). We will visit the historic Polebridge Mercantile building before heading up to Bowman Lake for a day spent exploring around one of the most scenic backcountry lakes anywhere.

Hike Numa Ridge Lookout. Numa Ridge Lookout is 11.3 miles roundtrip and is considered moderately strenuous. While it is a trek, the views of the Whitefish range are well worth the long walk!

There’s also an option for a flat(er) hike to Akokala Lake which is beautiful in the fall.  This hike is also 11 miles round trip.

On the way back we will catch dinner at Home Ranch Bottoms- with their delicious Huckleberry Pie- and then head back to West Glacier for the night. https://www.homeranchbottomsmt.com/

Day 3- Tuesday, Sept. 16th: Kayaking Lake McDonald

After a light breakfast at our lodge, we will drive to Lake McDonald and set out in kayaks across the beautiful lake. Have you seen the pictures of the colored rocks in the lake? That is Lake McDonald! After a morning of kayaking, we will head back to Whitefish to explore one of the top destination mountain towns in the world!

Day 4- Wednesday, Sept. 17th: Going to the Sun Road to Many Glacier Hotel

Today, we venture into the heart of Glacier National Park! After a grab-and-go breakfast, we’ll drive the iconic Going to the Sun Road. Stop options along this amazing drive include McDonald Falls, Sacred Dancing Cascades, West Tunnel, The Loop (Heaven’s Peak), Bird Woman Falls, Haystack Falls, Oberlin Bend, The Weeping Wall, Big Bend, Triple Arches, Logan Pass, Lunch Creek, East Tunnel, Siyeh Bend, Jackson Glacier Overlook, St Mary’s and Virginia Falls hike options (St Mary’s 1.7 miles roundtrip and Virginia 3.6 roundtrip, with both being fairly flat), Sunrift Gorge, and Wild Goose Island Overlook. We will cap the day with accommodations and dinner at The Many Glacier Hotel. After dinner we can take a short walk to see if there are any moose hanging out at Lake Fishercap.

Day 5- Thursday, Sept. 18th: Grinnell Glacier Hike

We will meet after an early breakfast to tackle Grinnell Glacier. This is one of many amazing hikes and is often listed as the best hike in Glacier NP! Amazing views await along the entire trail. This trail is 10.6 miles. There is 1,600 ft elevation gain all in the last third of the hike. We will walk around 2 lakes then up above Grinnell Lake.

Day 6- Friday, Sept. 19th: Going to the Sun Road to Coram, MT

We will take time to enjoy Swiftcurrent Lake or even do a shorter hike such as Apikuni Falls before we drive back over the 50 miles of the Going to the Sun Road, the US’s most scenic drive!  

Virginia Falls hike options (St Mary’s 1.7 miles roundtrip and Virginia 3.6 roundtrip, with both being fairly flat), Jackson Glacier Lookout, Siyeh Bend, Logan Pass (grab lunch), Oberlin Bend, Weeping Wall, Heavens Peak, Avalanche Creek, Sacred Dancing Cascade Falls, McDonald Falls and finally Lake McDonald Lodge.   We will have the opportunity to stop at Logan Pass and do the Hidden Lake hike, which is another iconic park hike behind the visitor center.  The overlook is 2.7 miles round trip and the lake is 5.1 miles round trip. We will stay at an incredible A-Frame cabin just outside GNP in Coram, MT.

Day 7- Saturday, Sept. 20th: Horseback Riding at lake McDonald

We will finish our last day at Glacier NP riding horses out of the Lake McDonald stables. We will head back to our first-class accommodations for a Celebration Dinner! We will make a few toasts celebrating our trip and tell some of our favorite stories from the week!

After breakfast at the A-Frame, we will load up and head back toward Kalispell and Glacier Park Airport. Please plan departures for no earlier than noon on Sept. 21.
