VISA REQUIRED!!!
Vietnam requires visitors from the US to obtain a visa PRIOR to arrival in the country. You are responsible for applying for and obtaining your tourist visa before the trip starts. Your Fit 4 Adventure guide(s) will be available to help you navigate the process, but it will ultimately be up to you to procure your visa in a timely manner prior to departure.
DIETARY RESTRICTIONS
While vegetarian and vegan requirements are easily met in Vietnam, due to cultural nuance and potential difficulties with the language barrier, those with severe food allergies (peanut, tree nut, etc.) and gluten-free/celiac needs may want to consider a different trip. While our F4A guides will do everything in their power to ensure dietary needs are met, we cannot guarantee gluten-free options will be widely available, nor the ability to effectively communicate the severeness of any specific food allergies.
FLIGHTS
Arrivals: You are responsible for booking your own flight to Hanoi's Noibai International Airport (HAN). Plan to arrive March 9 at any time. Once you clear customs, we will have a driver meet you and bring you to our hotel.
Departures: For those departing after the Main Trip, please plan late-afternoon/evening departures out of Hanoi (HAN) on March 16. It is a 2-hour transfer from Ninh Binh to Hanoi and you'll want to have plenty of time to get checked-in at the airport. Our group shuttle is included in the trip price- if you need/prefer to depart earlier, your F4A guide can help arrange transport (Note: earlier transport will be at the client's expense).
For those departing after the add-on, plan for midday/afternoon departures from Da Nang International Airport (DAD) on March 21. When booking, it may be cheaper to book a multi-city ticket (inbound into Hanoi, out bound from Da Nang) OR to book 2 separate tickets (one-way into Hanoi, one-way home from Da Nang). Contact your F4A guide with any questions prior to booking your flight!

This itinerary is designed to give you the maximum Northern Vietnam exposure in a short 8 day, 7 night time frame. With so much to do and see, we want to pack in as much activity, culture and cuisine as possible, while giving you time to sit back and enjoy the amazing natural beauty that this country has to offer.
Day 1
Arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam, clear through customs, and meet our transfer van to take you to our Hotel. Upon arrival, check in and relax!!!! This evening, we will have a welcome dinner to meet the group, your Fit 4 Adventure guides and get your first glimpse of Hanoi city life.
Day 2
Welcome to the sights and sounds of Hanoi! Today is a whirlwind day as we experience the best of Hanoi City on a private tour with a local guide. We will visit temples, pagodas, and learn about the history and heritage of many of the local Hanoian crafts in the Old Quarter. We will enjoy a traditional water puppet show, and after an early dinner, take a cyclo ride back to our hotel for the evening. Tonight is a great time to book a massage at a local spa, head back out to explore Hanoi, or relax and get caught up on sleep before our morning bike ride!
Day 3
On our first cycling day of the trip, we set out into the countryside to bike through farmlands and villages and get an up-close view of the local way of life. Along the way, our local guide will point out crops like fruits and rice, which we may have a chance to taste depending on what is in season. In the evening, head back to the city for a walking street food tour with a local guide who will guide us to some of the best street food in the Old Quarter!
Day 4/5
Get excited, because this morning we say goodbye to Hanoi city and head east to the coast! Arriving in Ha Long City, we will board the boutique Sena Cruise for a 3 day/2 night excursion into the idyllic waters of Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay. These 2 bays are world famous for their massive limestone karst formations jutting out of pristine blue waters. Choose your own adventure on this boutique cruise as you soak up the sun from the deck of the boat, or take a swim at one of the many small natural beaches. Take a kayak tour (included) or sign up for a massage at the spa. On day 5 when we head to Cat Ba Island in the middle of the bay, you can choose whether to take a short bike ride, or sit back and relax on a tram ride as you head into Viet Hai village for lunch.
Day 6
After a last chance in the morning to swim and kayak in the Tra Bau area of the bay (famous as a filming location for the Kong Skull Island movie), we disembark at Ha Long City and head south to Ninh Binh Province. This evening you will have the choice of relaxing at the hotel, with picturesque views of the valley, or heading out with your Fit 4 Adventure guide to see Tam Coc town by foot and try a local Banh Mi vendor.
Day 7
On our last full day together, we will explore the rich history and natural beauty of the Ninh Binh area. After meeting up with our local guide, our first stop is visiting Hoa Lu, the ancient first capital of Vietnam. Next we take a boat ride through Trang An, a favorite local hot spot, and a fantastic example of the karst and cave systems in this area. We head straight from there to Bich Dong, the most famous cave temple in the Ninh Binh area, and finally to Mua Cave, which is most famous for its short but steep hike to the top of Lying Dragon Mountain with spectacular views of the surrounding area. In the evening, we head back to our hotel, where we will gather for a final farewell dinner.
Day 8
This morning, after a final buffet breakfast in our hotel, we will board a private van back to Hanoi City to depart back home.

Optional Central Vietnam Add-On
Day 1
This morning we head out for a morning bike tour of Ninh Binh Province. More beautiful scenery and farmland will accompany us as our local guide teaches us more about the history and culture of the area. In the afternoon you can utilize some down time to get a massage, relax by the pool, or explore more of Tam Coc town before we board our evening train to Hue (Note: 4x per berth on our train means you may get to share with another couple, or other singles on our trip)
Day 2
Wake up on the sleeper train, have a cup of coffee and watch the countryside go by before we pull into Hue city. A private van will meet us to drop off our bags at our hotel, and then off to explore the Imperial City of Hue. The Imperial City, bult in the early 19th century and inhabited by the monarchy until its dissolution in 1945, is ripe with Chinese, Vietnamese, and even French inspired architecture. Later in the day we visit the tomb of Tu Duc, one of the last emperors of Vietnam, who designed and built his own tomb complex before his death. Finally, we cap off the day with a Dragon Boat tour along the Perfume River.
Day 3
Hop into our private van as we travel further south today, with stops along the way between Hue and Hoi An. My Khe beach, the Marble Mountains, and the Son Tra Peninsula are all positioned outside of the largest city in Central Vietnam, Danang, and we will see them all as we travel south along the coast. Later in the day, after settling into our hotel, a short bike ride will take us to the center of Hoi An, where we will learn about the town's history. The cultures of much of the world collide here in this historic port town, and we will have a guide take us to some of the most famous sites in the old town.
Day 4
Today will be our longest bike ride day! Covering over 53 kilometers (32 miles) of mostly flat farmland, we will experience the best of rural central Vietnam, crossing rivers on boats, visiting local craftsmen and village homes, and navigating with a local guide who will share with us the traditions and ways of life of the country people.
Day 5
On our last day together, you will have a final chance to practice cooking all the fantastic dishes you have had during your time in Vietnam. After a visit to the local market, we will head back to the village where you will be instructed on how to cook a number of local dishes. We will enjoy the fruits of our labor, then off to the My Son Sanctuary where we will learn about the history of this 1000 year old Hindu temple complex. This evening our final farewell to Vietnam will include a boat ride back into Hoi An and a farewell dinner in town!
Day 6
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel prior to boarding our airport transfer for midday departures.
We'll plan the trip!
